We are Partnering for Rural Health e.V., a non-governmental organisation registered under the German law. We are driven by the vision to live in a world with access to affordable healthcare for all. Why? Because healthcare is key to a good, healthy, and happy life. To achieve this vision we need direct partnerships that are tailored to the specific local needs. That is why we work side-by-side with local healthcare experts and assist them in supporting their communities. Together with these partners, we work towards leaving no one behind (LNOB) and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Our
Story
Partnering for Rural Health was founded in 2021 with the idea that everyone should have access to healthcare.

It all started with a rusty nail.
​
In 2019, Grigori, one of our co-founders was traveling through rural Uganda, when he stepped into a rusty nail. It was clear that he needed a doctor – who was difficult to find. Until he met Richard, a young doctor who helped him out. Turns out that finding a doctor in rural Uganda was not only a problem for Grigori. There are thousands of people in rural Uganda who lack access to healthcare. Public hospitals lack capacity, medicine and not always reach remote areas. Good clinics and doctors tend to be clustered in urban areas, which are difficult to reach for the rural population – due to natural disasters cutting off roads, a lack of public transport and funds to do the trip.

That is how a dream was born. And a new partnership. Richard wanted to build up a clinic in rural Uganda – so the two of them got to brainstorm. What would it take to build a clinic in rural Uganda? And what kind of support would be needed? And how can people on the other end of the world help to make this a reality? That is how Partnering for Rural Health was born. An association that can be a partner to provide financial support, capacity building and raise awareness around the topic of rural healthcare in Uganda and worldwide.

MEET THE TEAM
We are a small, interdisciplinary, and fun team of doctors and young professionals dedicated to promoting rural health. We come from a variety of backgrounds, including medicine, business, IT, environmental administration, human rights and energy. We work together with local doctors, nurses, community workers and NGOs to make sure that our support meets the needs on the ground. We are convinced that together, we can make access to healthcare in rural areas a reality.
